Hi.

Welcome to Steamblogger.com the blog and author page for Hill T. Manner

I've Always Dreamed Of...

I’m starting this late… 78 days late. I had originally intended to restart this beginning in Jan of this year to coincide with new beginnings or something like that, but [insert vague reason why It never transpired] here we are. As said previously, I’m pulling these prompts from a list of 365 writing prompts I found on google and today’s is so ridiculously open ended…

It’s driving me up the wall, actually… that might’ve been the connection issues I was having getting this blog reorganized that did that.

Dreams.

What we want the most, the fevered ramblings of a 3.5lb lump of fat, salts and water that keep our subconscious entertained while we sleep, or sometimes they loosely correlate to goals we hope to achieve, regardless of what you see them as… we all have them.

What have I always dreamed of? Making a name for myself.

Okay that’s about as vague as this writing prompt so let me try to flesh this out.

In my younger years, my best friend got me involved in a MLM (Multilevel Marketing Scheme). Like most morons duped into believing they work, the concept of owning my own business and making a six figure income were alluring beyond belief. But instead of seeing myself striding across some stage being welcomed to… I dunno was it “Diamond status”?

I saw myself as some high class business man, international travel, multi-million dollar business deals, in short… I saw myself turning my name into “a name you can trade on.”

Or, circling back to my initial response. A name for myself.

I can’t say that dream has come true, I spent the whole of my 20’s and some of my early 30’s firmly entrenched in a career mindset that saw my focus pointed largely on going to work and family vacations when we could, beers on the weekend, regular working man… suburbia.

It wasn’t until early 2019 that I discovered the writing community on Twitter. Shortly after, I founded a newsletter, now magazine with a group of like minded writers and suddenly found my name associated with a brand, a brand I’d helped design.

All that said, I can’t say I’ve realized that dream, but… it’s coming along.
