Literary Fame.
No not really, the truth is a little more complicated then that… no that’s a lie as well.
I don’t typically jump into a project without a goal in mind, as I said in my previous entry, this novel is 10 years in the making. So I’ve had plenty of time to mull over plot holes, story arcs, world build, and establish a goal.
But the burning question still is Why? Why write at all?
I guess because… if we circle back to my first answer “Literary Fame” there is a modicum of truth to it. I mean… I love crafting my stories, there is nothing more fulfilling then writing a scene that leaves you feeling tired; as if you just sold a part of your soul to get it on paper.
By my ultimate goal?
I want to be able to walk into a bookstore, a couple months after I release my debut novel; and see it sitting on the shelf. It’s hardbound shell all wrapped in a nice glossy book cover. Positively screaming at that dude looking at the book next to it, “Hey you! Buy me!" That’s the goal.
Now this goal assumes I finish the book, get it edited, query potential literary agents, and hopefully land a publisher that wants to publish it for me and I recognize that’s far easier said then done.
I think i’m gonna get back to this manuscript now, there’s still a lot of work left to be done.
Look, if you’re an aspiring author like me… Dream Big, otherwise what’s the point?
